WHO ARE ENVIROPOWER LTD. - ABOUT US
Enviropower Ltd. is a specialist provider of combined heat and power sets, generally of outputs where reciprocating engines are the normal form of prime mover, though the company will also build any other type of generator where simpler principles apply. The company was formed in 1989 to build on the experience of its founders in the use of gas engines in combined heat and power applications. The name comes from the particular expertise gained in using what would otherwise be wasted biogases produced in anaerobic digestion processes
To provide the best and most personal service possible, the company remains small and specialised. It is owned and run by engineers and builds machines to bespoke design for specific applications.
With growth, the company has expanded its range of experience building machines using engines fuelled by biogas, natural gas, LPG and diesel. Not all have heat recovery, some only partial heat recovery if this is important where there is a mismatch of electrical power and heat requirement. (refer to other pages about machine sizing)
The company will build a machine using any engine for which a customer may have a preference - it is not beholden to any particular manufacturer and has used engines from Cummins, Perkins, Ford, Iveco and MAN.
As much as possible is built in the works at Caldicot; steelwork, panels, pipework are all in house designed and built.
Everybody in the company has at some time or another had practical experience of working on CHP sets and generators, both mechanically and electrically and consequently ease of attention and of maintenance are particular areas of emphasis.
The company also carries out maintenance and servicing of machines on site, not only those of its own build, but also those built by others.
Some of the particular projects we have carried out where special designs have been necessary:
- Particularly narrow machines to fit in restricted plantroom space.
- Containerised machines for international shipping, with roof mounted dump heat radiators to minimise site work.
- Small output, asynchronous machines for sewage sludge gas.
- Dual natural gas / biogas fuelling systems.
- Machines to act as embedded combined heat and power sets in normal use, but to be available for standby purposes in emergency.
- No exhaust heat recovery
- Low headroom designs for restricted plantrooms.
Machines have been built for the UK, for EU and for other parts of the world.
